Exploring the Triangle

Each summer students remain in the Triangle to pursue internships. For many of these students, this is the first time they spend extended amounts of time off campus exploring Raleigh and Durham a bit more than they get to during the academic year. This summer forty-eight students interned in the triangle at a wide range of companies.  With the help of Entrepreneur, Jan Davis, the events in the Triangle were more robust than ever. Students eyes were opened to the plethora of opportunities in the Triangle.

A full summer schedule was sent to students earlier in the summer, and students could decide which of the events they wanted to attend. Students got to hear from UNC E Minor alumni at quite a few of these events, including the Vital Plan/GoodXchange event, Citrix and New Media Campaigns. It is always inspiring for students to see where they could be in a few years, and how they can continue to connect back with the Minor in Entrepreneurship upon graduation.  Reid Farber stated “I enjoyed that the people presenting were Carolina alumni so they were able to give advice to all the rising seniors on things to take advantage of in your last year at UNC.”

Some students are reconsidering where they will be located upon graduation. After an event at Groundwork Labs this summer, Ben Fingers said, “I have always wanted to journey to a big city, but John Austin redirected my thoughts to stay in the Triangle after he spoke of the numerous opportunities. I didn't know that the Raleigh Triangle is known as one of the ideal places for startups especially the Durham area”.
