Requirements
Direct experience in the process of entrepreneurship is a key component of the minor. The required internship is designed to provide that type of experience.
Students enrolled in the minor typically complete their internships during the summer before their senior years after completing Introduction to Entrepreneurship (ECON 325) and a venture creation course in commercial, social, scientific or artistic entrepreneurship.
The internship director works with students and employers to identify and secure internship placements.
Requirements
Student interns must:
- Complete 320 hours of work. Missed hours of work must be made up. Specific dates and times of internship are negotiated with the internship supervisor.
- Maintain frequent contact with the internship director during the course of the internship.
- Write weekly entries in a journal or blog over the course of the internship. Students will use their journal or blog entries as field notes when they write their final papers for ECON 328, taken during the semester following the internship.
- Attend internship meetings that are called by the minor in entrepreneurship program during the summer and offered in the intern's geographic location.
- Complete and sign a Learning Contract that reflects the terms above and any additional terms and conditions imposed by the intern supervisor and approved by the director of the minor.
