Ethical Fashion to the College Campus: School House, LLC
June 8, 2010
Meredith Kramer and Suzette Walker, students in the Minor in Entrepreneurship, are currently completing their internship at School House, LLC in Durham, NC. Rachel Weeks, A Fulbright Scholar and Duke graduate, started the company in 2007 to “bring ethical fashion to universities everywhere.” School House operates fair labor manufacturing facilities in Sri Lanka and now has partnerships with universities across the country to deliver a high quality and ethical clothing brand.
“It is great working at a start-up business—I’ve experienced that it is as if you are getting an MBA because you learn so much about what it takes to run a business,” said Walker, who is a recent graduate of UNC.
Kramer and Walker are currently working on market research as School House expands its clothing line to more universities across the country.
“I’ve been getting the hands-on experience that entrepreneurship is all about,” said Kramer, a rising senior at UNC.
